He knew well the lows he’d reached living a life of drugs. Lows that overcame the joy and happiness spent with family. Lows that erased the satisfaction of hard work and a job well done. Lows that deadened any care he had for his hair, his teeth, his appearance. Yet still a spark remained that he had to change. He could change. He needed to change. Some days were harder than others. Days it was too hard to stay strong. But he knew the cycle had to be broken. He knew only he could make that happen. He knew he wanted and deserved more. So he’d find a spot outside in the fresh air, in a quiet space, and go within, to that place in his mind that held his Divine Spark, his light and hope. He'd allow himself to feel God in the earth and the sky and the air he breathed. He let himself believe that today was the day the cycle would be broken. Today was the day he’d release the abuse and negativity and fear. Today was the day he’d believe he deserved more. Today was the day he let go of all doubts he could stay strong. Today was the day he understood how really strong he was. Today was the day he believed in himself, and the cycle was broken. 01/11/23
